Political Correctness

I haven't posted for a while...a long while.....it's all been too depressing.
I will not, however, let that happen again. In the words of the great Teddy Roosevelt:

"Get action. Do things; be sane, don't fritter away your time; create, act, take a place wherever you are and be somebody; get action"

That is exactly what I am going to do from now on. A teacher of mine literally turned a lightbulb on in my head this morning- she said "It is your generation....my generation has now come and gone...it is your time to do something about it. You MUST doing something about it. Question things...discover things...SAY things." We were talking about politics. We were talking about this country and its downhill slide into the oblivion of political correctness in conjunction with the censureship that took place under Franco in early 20th century Spain. I expressed my concerns that the same is happening and will continue to deteriorate here in the United States. I say this on the heels of having watched a disturbing newscast this morning, in which the "Freedom Tower," (the building to be erected in place of the fallen World Trade Centers) was being discussed. It is now to the be called "The One World Tower," and it has been purchesed by a Chinese firm that has plans to place a chinese cultural center inside. Inside the memorial to the 3,000+ dead in those attacks on AMERICANS will be a cultural center from another country?? Regarding the name, apparently they would not occupy it unless that name was removed. In their words: "It was just not marketable that way." Translation: "It says too much about the concept we so hate." By the way....the ONE WORLD TOWER? How symbolic, I must say.
Among some of the other politically incorrect sayings currently making the rounds:
We are no longer supposed to call the War on Terror as such; we are to now call it "The Overseas Contingency Operaiton." I quote:
"Critics have pleaded with the Obama administration to abandon the use of "Global War on Terror" because they say it mischaracterizes the nature of the enemy and its abilities."
How can one mischaracterize terror? Terror is terror....terrorists are terrorists...which brings me to my next point. We are no longer to call the terrorists at Guantanamo Bay terrorists, or insurgents, but rather, "Detainees." And now, as our president is now closing Guantanamo Bay, we U.S. citizens will be forced to pay (out of our tax dollars) for their stay here in the United States under Habeas Corpus. They will be tried in court and awarded the same rights as any other U.S. citizen! It would seem as though we are rather apologetic for our actions in detaining them in the first place, now doesn't it?
The point to these rantings is simply this: Based on these and various other examples, is it becoming politically incorrect to stand up for what we believe in; to stand up for what is RIGHT; to be patriotic and adamant in our resolve to protect our nation and our freedom; to respect and honor those who have fallen for it? I say this as it seems that with the beginning of each day there is a new concept or phrase or action that has been deemed "politically incorrect" by the left. At the moment we are in no physical danger if we do choose to use one of these politically incorrect terms or ways of thinking; socially we might be a bit shunned, but that is all. However, my worry is simply this: will there come a day when, like Spain as mentioned before, these ideas/words/actions go from being politically incorrect to being actually illegal? With as much as this new administration has already been able to get away with, I do indeed fear the latter.
