Your Life- Your choices: Really?

The phrase in the title refers to the title of a small book circulated in the VA hospitals to returning severely injured soldiers. "Your Life; Your Choices." The title seems benign enough- discussing choices you’ll be making now that you’re disabled. Read further, however, and one gets a glimpse at the reality of the circumstances that this book entails. This is “end of life counseling” as proponents of far-left health care reform like to refer to it. The book contains a personal worksheet that the soldiers are asked to complete by rating each circumstance according to how willing they would be to live through it. It asks whether or not it would be worth living if one is in the midst of post-traumatic stress and just simply can’t get over the hump of depression and lead a regular life; it asks if it would be worth living knowing that he/she will be a financial burden on his or her family for the rest of their lives; it asks if it would be worth living if one can’t truly contribute to society. I’m not making this stuff up- this is taken straight from the book. Might I add that Bush, when he found out that this was taking place, had the book swiftly removed from all VA hospitals. Ironically, however, under the current administration the book has wheedled its way back into the VA. This is how the government treats the men and women who bravely served our country. How, might I ask, are we to expect to receive better treatment as average, run-of-the-mill citizens of this nation? We are to expect no better from this administration. How dare the government step in and decide to play God, coaxing people into making decisions that they should never have to make. Why is murder illegal in this country? Because it is the ultimate form of stealing- complete and utter disregard for human life. Why should counseling people to murder themselves be any different? No, this bill nor any of the others proposed contain provisions for nazi-like death camps and gas chambers (yet) for those who are unfit to continue in society: the very ill, the very old, the mentally challenged, the unborn, the sick….the list goes on. However, mandating “counseling” such as this to returning disabled veterans and eventually to the entire nation if a bill like this passes is a step just such a “eugenically appropriate” direction. Tell me something, Mr. President- when did God die and leave his estate (otherwise known as mankind) to you and your “moral obligations?” How dare you give yourself carte blanche to encroach on our lives in this way. Sarah Palin, and criticized as she was, was dead right (excuse the pun) in coining the term “death panels.”

In other news, the White House released several statements these past few days regarding numbers and emails. Specifically, their estimates on the national deficit were off by 2 trillion dollars, making the current (and probably way too low) estimate approximately 9 trillion. Let me illustrate that in zeros: 9,000,000,000,000. Yes, that’s a 9 with 12 zeros after it. To put this in further perspective, there are only approximately 6 billion people in the whole world! Add the proposed cost of the health care reform (which is only a start-up estimate and will undoubtedly end up for more expensive than anyone ever cared to estimate), the cost of cash for clunkers as dealers have yet to be paid for most of their transactions, Cap and Trad..er…Tax, and whatever other horrendously expensive program this administration will try to pass, and we’ve got ourselves a terrible problem. The dollar will collapse in our lifetime and China will practically OWN us (if not literally) if we don’t turn this spending machine around and quick.
Regarding emails, the White House finally owned up to its email scam. Shocker. Last week Robert Gibbs swore up and down to Major Garrett that the White House simply was not responsible for the thousands of unsolicited emails regarding healthcare sent out in David Axelrod’s name. Now, come to find out, the White House had outsourced the task, paying a company to send these emails to the thousands of people on the lists that, oh yeah, they ALSO didn’t have. It’s as if they no longer care, or never did, what the public thinks of them. Personally, I fear that they really DON’T have to care or worry about being reelected. People, we now have Chicago politics in Washington garb. It is not beyond even my wildest imagination to consider the possibility that those behind this administration won’t have to worry about their jobs.

I was discussing these very issues with my husband over dinner, and I told him that while these sorts of things no longer shock me, they frighten me. I used these terms not because I am a “Neanderthal,” a “functionally retarded adult,” or a “racist” (all terms used by people who view my and the rest of America’s opposition to far-left health care reform as lunacy), but because I am truly afraid for my country. I fear for my nation because I am aware of three very important things: I am aware of the providential beginnings of our blessed nation through the truly amazing study of America’s history; I am aware of the impact that a flexible interpretation of our constitution will have on our nation’s future; I am familiar with what it is like to have a loved one (in this case, my brother) stand on the front lines ready and willing to take a bullet for this nation and its people. We are doing our forefathers, our constitution, and our brave men and women in uniform a horrible disservice when we decide as a nation to turn our backs on our founding principles. For those who would disagree- it is NOT politically incorrect to want to follow those principles; after all—they worked! Unfortunately, absolute truth is no longer taught in schools- children are taught simply to follow whatever they feel to be right. Thus, how can one be totally surprised when there are those who, rather than interpret the constitution as it was written and not to how it applies to modern times, call people like me “functionally retarded” for even suggesting that we must “follow the rules.” We are too young a nation to go down the tubes yet, people, and it is high time that we wake up.

The town hall was INCREDIBLE. Despite the bus-load of teamsters brought in specifically to protest, or the manufactured signs and pins and shirts....the crowd (which numbered close to 1,000 when you consider those 200+ people who were turned away due to the capacity issues) seemed to consist of at least 3/4 or more of the people in total opposition to the bill. How proud!

I made it into the line of those who wanted to speak, with dozens upon dozens of people waiting behind me. I was praying the whole time that God would give me the strength and the words to say. I listened to other people ahead of me make their statements, and the cheers from the crown encouraged me as my turn drew closer and closer. One man in particular caught my attention- he had brought a copy of the constitution, and brought to the crowd's attention the tenth ammendment, which reads:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

The man pointed out that carrying out what this bill plans to do is in direct violation of the Constitution. Walz curtly responded by saying that along those lines of logic, we would have to get ride of Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, VA benefits, etc. Had I had the mic at that point, my response would have been: Why, YES! We should! Those should have been delegated to the states to BEGIN WITH. Simply because we have programs in operation at the moment that go against the constitution DOES NOT mean we aught to keep doing just that! I felt that Walz rather painted himself into a corner with that one.

A few minutes after that, it was my turn to step up to the mic. Of course, I had had to whittle my statement down QUITE a bit. I had many things that I had wanted to point out, when I was under the assumption that I would have several minutes to make a statement. I've read about other town halls that gave people up to 5 minutes. As mentioned, I was told I had 1 minute. Anyway, I had to revise it while waiting to get into the townhall about an hour prior to my making the statement. With the help of a pen, my father's words and advice via a cell phone, and a some continuous prayer, and this is what I ended up saying:

"My name is Mary Ramirez, and I am a student at Bethany Lutheran College. I have spent most of my summer trying to read through this bill. Let me preface this by saying that it is not that I want to do nothing; I do feel that some changes need to be made to the system, and I will get to that in a moment. However, I stand before you today in total opposition to H.R. 3200. I want to share with you just a few of my concerns.
The president continues to say that we can keep our coverage if we like it, but, sections 122, 313, and 401 clearly outline how that will simply not be possible, as individuals and employers will be taxed if their plans are deemed unacceptable by the Health Services Advisory Committee. Let us not forget section 102 as well, which poses limits on new enrollment into private insurance.
These points represent only a fraction of the "more government control" details that are contained in this bill. H.R. 3200 is riddled with massive new government regulations and restrictions on personal freedom. This bill should be scrapped completely, as it is neither about health nore care, but is about taxation, government control, and the loss of liberty. I feel that allowing all health insurance companies to compete nationwide with limited government interference and regulation, along with tort reform, and an agressive program to catch fraud and health care abuse will do far more to bring costs down, make health care affordable for all, and maintain the freedoms that make America what it was founded to be. H.R. 3200 will do just the opposite. With that in mind, I would like to pose a question:
Can you say with certainty that the sections of the bill to which I referred previously contain "misinformation?" The president and many others continue to tell us that we are misinformed; however, I'm getting these concerns straight from the bill itself.

After that the crowd just went wild...I'd say 3/4 of the people there were in opposition to the bill. He didn't have a direct answer to my statements, except to say that individuals and companies would only be taxed if their insurance didn't meet minimum standards; however, as I was trying to point out, those standards will be determined by a committee that comes out a bill that also creates a government option; that committee can create, change, alter...however you want to view it...the standards by which private coverage is measured. The point I was trying to make is that it is simply more government control; it totally negates the president's claim that we will be left untouched if we like our plans and want to keep them. Apparently we can only keep them if the government likes it too.
Anyway, Walz hadn't addressed all of my concerns when the moderator (former Republican Senator Durenberger) took the mic and just started moving on to the next question. The whole crowd just errupted and started yelling at him to go back to my comment....and Walz made him apologize to me. Then Walz started addressing my concerns and basically talking about how my suggestions for reform wouldn't work....and specifically he addressed how allowing insurance companies to compete across state lines would fail, as it would not increase competition. I started to say something from my seat ( I was almost in the front row) about it being just simple business logic that more companies competing for people would obviously lower prices, and then was again allowed to go up to the mic. I made the point (and I think this is what ended up on news on KEYC TV) that by having a government option thrown into the mix to help create competition was plagued by the fact that the government as a "competitor" doesn't have to show a profit; it can tax, regulate...etc. etc. The crowd got really excited again.

After the town hall it was such on odd feeling to have people coming up to me and shaking my hand or wanting to talk to me....the VP of BlueCross/Blue Shield came up to me and was like..."Thank you for your comments, they were right on." And then after that was the interview with FreePress. I'm still so suprised that they even wanted to interview me at all (seeing as how liberal they tend to lean) as I had caused some of the loudest uproar of the night! The reporter interviewed me for about 15 minutes...and while I wanted to get two specific points across; that I totally oppose this bill and fear that it will harm generations to come, and that I thought Rep. Walz handled the meeting very well (in comparison to some of the other rather rude experiences constituents have had with their representatives); I thought that the way he quoted me made it sound like I thought Walz had come totally prepared, and/or had read the bill. I'm referring to this passage in the article: “He knew what we were talking about. ... " What I meant to get across was that he seemed to understand where both sides were coming from, while obviously supporting this bill 100%. I certainly don't feel that he has read the entire bill. I felt, however, that he came somewhat more prepared than some of the other reps. and senators that have held town halls. . . he had the head of the Mankato Area Chamber of Commerce; the VP of BlueCross/BlueShield Minnesota, and a doctor from the Mayo clinic. He seemed to also have brought documentation along from the bill.

It was definitely an amazing experience to finally get to do something in this whole political debate. I've been reading the bill and blogging about it for quite some time...along with all the other fun stuff this administration is trying to (or already did) shove down our throats...Cap and Trade, Cash for Clunkers, the stimulus package, the fairness doctrine...the list goes on. My whole reason for doing all this is simply that if the government get a foot in the door in this big of a way....what is to hold them back from eventually regulating more and more aspects of our lives...specifically, our freedom to openly practice our faith!

Praise God for helping me that night- as Luther says in his sacristy prayer:

"Use me as Your instrument -- but do not forsake me, for if ever I should be on my own, I would easily wreck it all."

Don't Tread on Me

Mr. President, members of Congress, do not underestimate the will of the American people. We know wrongdoing and corruption when we see it, and ladies and gentlemen, we see it. We recognize when our freedoms are fading; when our freedoms are being blatantly snatched away. We will stand up and fight for them, despite the difficulties.

Today I will, God-willing, have a chance to speak at a town hall and voice my concerns to Representative Tim Walz. I've revised my statement from what I previously posted and would like to post it here. May God use my words towards a positive impact on the citizens of my district and state, and hopefully, this country.

Thank you, Congressman Walz for hosting this town hall. I thank you for your time.

Sir, I stand before you today in total opposition to HR 3200.
I have been personally studying this bill, and would like to share my concerns with my findings.

· Again, people are assured over and over that they will have freedom in their choice of insurance. Yet section 312 clearly outlines the requirement for employers to auto-enroll their employees into the plan unless the employee takes action first.

· Many, including the president, have made claims that this plan will be deficit neutral, and that we will be able to pay for this plan without affecting taxes and the current budget. This is proven to be absolutely false in section 444 with its proposed additional tax increase on wealthier Americans.

Then, there is the issue of size and complication. This bill is over 1,000 pages long. To have such major legislation that is far too convoluted for most people to sit down and read is highly irresponsible. With that in mind, I have a threefold question for you. Beforehand, however, let me just say this: if this bill passes as is despite America’s standing up to cry out against its massively negative impact, I will work my hardest in the next year and half to defeat those who voted for it, and elect those who will make right this wrong. Remember, this isn’t just about this bill. This is about government overstepping its bounds in a number of other areas. Now, on with the questions:

First, did you personally read HR 3200 in its entirety before you voted on it; Second, if not, is that a responsible action to have voted on such a massive bill without knowing the details; Third, can you now show me specifically from the bill where the statements I made above are incorrect?

"It's Not Time To Get Giddy!"

Hello hello hello! So the left is backing down, are they?? The battle is being won!!

NOT SO FAST, people!! The battle is not over. I repeat....IT IS NOT OVER. This is nothing more than rhetoric to get us to shut up...to get us to think that we've won....to get us to think that they will actually concede. Do you think that they would so easily back down on something the left has wanted since the days of FDR??? Until this bill is TAKEN OFF THE TABLE COMPLETELY, and until a sweeping reform comes to the House and Senate...and I mean getting these dirty rotten Washington elite OUTA THERE....this bill or something like it will resurface again, and again, and again. It sounds silly to be saying this....but they WANT us to be out there celebrating our "victory"....when in fact they will use this distraction to push a few more things through!!! My message here: simply keep watch. This is not over yet.

It's not about creating another option to stir up diversity in the plethora of insurance choices. It's NEVER been about simply creating another choice. Even if they take the public option out of the equation (allbeit, for NOW), the government mandates, taxes, and control would still be imposed upon the private industry! It's ALWAYS been about more control, people! It has always been about getting more and more of us under their thumb. I sound terribly anti-establishment here. I am absolutely not advocating such a point of view. However, I am simply concerned about the size and sphere of the government today! Allow me to put this into perspective:

I am at the moment taking a summer course to complete some needed credits for graduation at my school. The course is essentially the history of the Lutheran reformation, complete with a 755 page volume (currently less than 100 pages away from being done with it, BY THE WAY :)!) of Luther's writings. I recently came across some of the most interesting passages. After many, many, many treatises on strictly spiritual (church only) issues, there came a chapter called "Living and Dying as a Christian" in which Luther goes on to describe how we should view government. In a nutshell....Luther saw that the world is a sinful place in need of some order. Even Christians screw up and make mistakes....he saw it necessary that a government be in place to protect its citizens from those who would do them harm and evil. It is there to keep the peace, more or less. To bring this back to our world....are you aware that that the sole (original) purpose of federal government in this country was simply to protect the states? The states had most of the power for quite a while. The federal government was just there to protect them from any enemies. Therefore, if you didn't like what was going on in your state....you could take it up directly with your officials at your state assembly! The state-level obviously made things a little more personal. If that didn't work...you could always move to a different state, I suppose. Moving to a different state is a lot easier than moving to a different country, as we would have to do today if we couldn't tolerate the government anymore. Anyway, my point is....the central government of that day was minimal! It was there for a few specific purposes, and it worked! Obviously, the expansive size of our country benefits from a federal government that keeps it all together; however, in my mind it is quickly moving from simply "keeping it all together" to centralizing ALL power to one elite city and to very specific people who do what they want despite popular opinion. This is never good. It hasn't been good for past civilizations, and I simply do not see how it can be good for us.

I just want those of you out there who think that we are now winning this battle to be mindful of the fact that the the public option in this bill is only one of MANY ills found within it, and this health care bill in its entirety is only a portion of our fight for our fleeting freedoms, and this is no time to be dancing for victory. Yet. Save the celebration for when we get our country back.

FINALLY! I have my chance. After watching for days the chance that so many patriotic Americans have had to express their opinion regarding this horrible abomination that Congress would have us to believe is Health Care Rerform, I FINALLY have a chance to do it myself. Rep. Tim Walz has at last agreed to hold a Town Hall meeting in my hometown of Mankato, Minnesota this coming week.

I am as outraged as anyone over this bill; however, as my wise mother reminded just today, "be cool-headed and just let God use you." Exactly, I thought, as I read that email. I have no intention of getting into a shouting match with the Congressman (though I applaud those who have had to do so in order to have their voices heard) as I feel that the best way to get my point heard is to simply relay FACTS. Yes, Gibbs, facts. Section numbers, page numbers, etc. After all, I am well aware of the fact that most congressmen and women haven't even read the bill. How picturesque an illustration it was at a townhall meeting in Houston, Texas, when Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee had to call into the Congressional hotline to get an answer for her constituent. In her own words: "I dialed the hotline number to get a better answer." How dare this woman be in office. I am not employed by the government, yet I, as have many other private citizens, have taken the time to study this 1000+ page monstracity. I am not getting paid to know the law or legislation slated to become law....SHE, however, is.

At any rate, I replied to my mother's email with this quote: "Speak softly, but carry a big stick." Teddy Roosevelt once said this. I know, I know....his politics aren't 100% squeeky clean conservative...in fact, he's responsible for getting the ball rolling on many big-government issues. He was, however, a good, honest man intent only on doing his best. He's also a raving good example of straight-up frankness.

Back to the quote- I will be calm, but firm; speaking softly the words of truth. My stick? Only the factual evidence (or as I'm told, "disinformation") of the freedom-less qualities of this legislation.

I'm told that most people are allowed up to five minutes to speak their opinions at these meetings. My statement? Just one minute, 45 seconds. It reads as follows:

I have personally studied HR 3200 and am personally at a loss to understand how a bill that is just simply supposed to provide another so-called option for a fraction of the nation (47 million, according to your calculations) will in fact ultimately enfringe upon the rights of everyone in this country. I am appalled at the blatant disregard for the sanctity of our medical choices and personal freedom found within the provisions of this gargantuan bill. I would like to specify just a few sections from this bill from which my fears stem:

-Sec. 102's limitations on new enrollment into private insurance plans.

-Sec. 122's power to determine what is acceptable PRIVATE coverage

-Sec. 205's requirement of employers to autoenroll into the government option anyone elegible for Medicaid REGARDLESS of whether they want it or not.

-Sec. 313's requirement of an 8% payroll tax to be contributed to the Health Choices Commissioner if the private insurance a company offers its employees is not acceptable according to the government.

-Sec. 401's 2.5% income tax on American individuals who opt out of the plan and/or possess coverage that isn't deemed "acceptable" by the proposed Health Services Advisory Committee.

-Sec. 444's modification of the 1986 IRS tax code to allow for an extra tax on the wealthiest Americans.. just because.....

-Sec. 1151's outlining the power the government will have over what is an applicable condition for readmission into a hospital.

May I remind you, Congressman, of the foundations upon which this country was established. We left our homelands in Europe those many years ago and eventually fought a revolutionary war in order to escape this sort of government control, and I would hope that our country has not strayed so far as to have forgotten this. I certainly have not.

Word of the Year: DISINFORMATION

DISINFORMATION. I am so tired of hearing this word. I'm listening to Robert Gibbs give a press briefing at this moment; it will be topic of my blog today.

Disinformation disinformation disinformation..... We Americans are being told that this is what we are to understand about the conflicts with legislation on Capitol Hill. We are just being simply disinformed regarding this bill. Our worries are unfounded.

What is it going to take for the White House to WAKE UP and realize that the people disagreeing with this bill aren't disagreeing with it simply because of hearsay that it might be dangerous ....it is because WE ARE READING THE BILL. I, Mr. Gibbs, have no monetary interest in not passing this bill, as you suggest those who are in opposition of it do. In fact, I do believe that YOU and the president's administration do know that we are reading this bill. I believe that this is why you, Gibbs, or Obama, or any of the other members of his administration or party HAVE NOT shot back at the concerns with facts, bill section numbers, or ammendment numbers! Guess what, people....it's because they HAVE no rebuttal.


How very interesting....he's spent the last 10 minutes telling the press (and oddly enough I can feel the tension through the tv screen...literally! And this with the media that absolutely worshipped Obama previously?) that everyone in opposition to this bill is misinformed. Has he taken even a few moments to simply explain HOW exactly we are being "misinformed?" Of course not!


They (the reporters) are trying to point out that in this so-called Obama Townhall, there sure didn't seem to be very many skeptics of the bill! How can this be, Mr. Gibbs, if the attendees of this town hall were not all representative of Obama SUPPORTERS!

The substance of this press briefing can be summarized in a nutshell:


-People are misinformed. Did he try to correctly inform people? No. He just repeated the word disinformation again, and again, and again. It's just that people are saying things that just aren't true. Wah. Really? How so? Exactly what isn't true, and why?

-You people are just disappointed that Obama did not get yelled at. This was repeated again, and again, and again. How can the press help it if every town hall that's been held has been representative of the fear this country has regarding this legislation? After all, aren't town hall meetings to listen to the concerns of constituents? If that were not the case, town halls would all be like the pep rally that Obama dared to call his own town hall meeting yesterday!


-He giggled an awful lot. Nerviously. Scared, Mr. Gibbs? Each and every opportunity that you had to "set the record straight" as you see fit was spent GIGGLING. Man up, and defend your so-called beliefs! Unless, of course..you can't!

-The President has and will present people with all the facts that they need in order to make an informed decision. Really, Mr. Gibbs? We're still waiting for a concise description of this bill!

I am taking time out of my days to sit and read the bill, listen to your town halls, and your press conferences. I am WAITING for a description of this bill. I am WAITING for a concise statement refuting any of our so-called pieces of misinformation. If what we are saying isn't true, than REFUTE IT! I am not some drone, plugged into a think-tank and being fed exactly what I should think and say. I am researching this ON MY OWN. How difficult would it be for those who oppose my concerns to simply point me to page numbers or section numbers of this bill and show me where I am wrong! I can certainly show you where I'm getting my concerns!





I hate to bring this argument into the picture, but a perfect example of this is the following: If we concerned Americans are wrong about the location of your birth, Mr. Obama, exactly how hard is it for you to show us your birth certificate? The same holds for your bill. If we are wrong, show us the proof!

Oh yeah, Mr. President? Where are those words today, hmm? Funny how "The White House will punch back twice as hard" (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/07/health-punch-back/) sure sounds like the silencing of dissent to me.

I heard a few things that I found very interesting today. There was a town hall meeting that was televised in Lebanon, PA today hosted by Senator Specter (D, PA).

I am watching this town hall meeting and taking notes as they go. It is so absolutely amazing to see people standing up for their rights. I love these points people are making:

-HOW will this NOT add to deficit?? Over a trillion dollars?? Or, according to Obama, 600 billion?? We are over 11 trillion in debt. How does anything of either magnitude not add to the deficit?? And this, people, is only a down payment!

-How will this NOT raise the tax on the middle class?

-Bills need to be written in plain English! It is ridiculous that we the American people cannot read the legislation that will affect us!

-Health Care that we as taxpayers fun for should not be shelled out to illegal aliens in this land.

-The bill imposes a payroll penalty tax on employers that choose to keep private insurance. What will happen to them? How will people truly be able to keep their own insurance?? According to Specter, this will only happen to people/companies that already have healthcare. If you are new the system, there are REGULATIONS regarding new enrollment!!!

-A thought of mine: What about incentives given by private companies to help encourage people to stay healthy (thus using LESS of the company's health care capital), rather than mandating care via the government?

-Governement access into people's private bank accounts? There is a provision in one of the House bills floating around for healthcare that accounts for this! (And THIS, ladies and gentlemen, is absolutely unconstitutional! See Amendment IV of the Bill of Rights)

-A 2.5% tax on people without "acceptable" health insurance. Who is to determine what is acceptable?? Ridiculous!

-How about having a referendum in 2010, and WE the people will tell you whether or not we want the plan?

- This bill will concentrate more information about the citizens of this country more than any other piece of legislation in history. How is this freedom?

Extraordinary. An informed group of Americans truly passionate about their nation. Watch out, Mr. Obama.....we are not un-American angry mobs. We are concerned about the direction in which this country is heading, and are simply trying to get lawmakers to vote like true Americans, according to the foundations upon which this country was founded. Though I do not think that shouting at the lawmakers will get you anywhere with them in regards to changing their minds, I do believe that this passion shows that we are truly fearful for our future, as well as that of our descendants. This plan in its various formats is dangerous on so many levels; fiscal responsibility, citizens' freedom in exchange for government takeover...etc. Speaker Pelosi, we are not astro-turf as you call us....we are people, and more importantly, we are Americans; and we are not about to let you have us yet. How dare you demote us simply for exercising our constitutional rights. And to you Congressmen and woman who become upset when we voice our opinions (often in opposition to our own), it is YOUR JOB to listen to us. You were elected by the people and FOR the people, and frankly though I disagree with Senator Spector's views, I thank him for letting people talk.

Town Halls: Our Fleeting Freedom of Speech

I am absolutely sickened and disgusted by the recent town hall meetings. When liberals loudly voice their opinions (I’m thinking A.C.O.R.N., the Black Panthers outside voting stations in Pennsylvania…Code Pink...MoveOn.org...etc.) it’s just considered freedom of speech. When conservatives or even concerned democrats voice their opinions regarding their apprehensions to this massive health care bill, it’s called an organized conspiracy.
Interestingly enough, the left has no problem with Senator David Scott’s actions, when he rudely yelled at the doctor who posed the following question: “Why would you vote for a plan similar to that that was applied in Massachusetts, when it has been shown not to work??” The Senator shouted to him that he should have “had the decency to call his office and make an appointment to sit down and meet with him.” First all, this doctor HAD been calling to get a meeting to no avail. Secondly, even if this doctor had never called, what is wrong with asking questions at a TOWN HALL meeting?? After all, isn’t debate what these town hall meetings are about?
Interestingly enough, things don’t get loud or even violent until the left makes something out of it! Citizens at these town hall meetings ask questions and voice their opinions, and the visiting lawmakers are the ones yelling and sparking the problems! Additionally, SEIU members who attend these meetings have sparked physical violence! I’m referring in particular to the camerawoman who was physically hit by an SEIU member who didn’t like what she was saying. Or, how about the man (Kenneth Gladney) in St. Louis who was beaten down by union members after trying to pass out flags?? Even worse, how about the man who tried to stand up for his son who, under this bill, would be last priority because of his cerebal palsy! This man and his family were escorted out of the town hall meeting, and were later visited in the middle of the night by those wishing to threaten him and his views. How interesting! Now, if the left wants to talk about planting people at these meetings, they might want to turn around and look themselves in the mirror. These SEIU members ARE planted! They are encouraged to go! Kathleen Sebelius is recorded as having had a telephone meeting with the SEIU, encouraging them to continue doing what they are doing. That is, attending these town halls meetings to serve as this administration’s thugs. It is so quintessentially dirty Chicago thuggary to resort to these measures.
It is not, as Nancy Pelosi has stated recently, “Un-American” to voice one’s opinion regarding this health care bill. This is so reminiscent of communist leaders who have tried to silence their people if and when opposition to their plans arose. Just recently, the White House has released a special email address to which one can “report fishy statements” regarding this huge bill. What is considered “fishy” by this administration? President Obama refers to it as “misinformation.” It is, essentially, people like me who have been reading this bill and blogging about or posting to my facebook regarding the fallacies and dangers of this bill. I may even potentially be on this White House enemies list!
As frustrating as these are for me to watch, it is also encouraging. It is not one town hall meeting in one city, or one state- these boisterous town hall meetings are taking place all over the country. There is more strong concern and opposition to this bill than the liberal left would like to admit. Why is it SO IMPORTANT that they shut up those who try to point out various issues with the bill? If the American opinion posed no threat to their bill, they wouldn’t even be at these town hall meetings.
My message to anyone reading this- keep on talking! It’s this bill’s biggest threat.
